Community Guidelines
UBCycle is built on trust. These guidelines keep our community safe, fair, and welcoming for everyone.
UBC students only
UBCycle is exclusively for current UBC students. Accounts must be created with a valid @ubc.ca email address. Sharing your account or creating accounts on behalf of others is not permitted.
Be honest in your listings
Describe items accurately — include any flaws, damage, or missing parts. Misleading listings will be removed and your account may be suspended.
Meet safely
Always meet in a public location on campus (e.g. student union building, library, or a busy common area). Never send payment before meeting in person. UBCycle recommends cash or e-transfer only after you have seen the item.
No prohibited items
Do not list anything illegal, dangerous, or against UBC policy. This includes weapons, controlled substances, counterfeit goods, stolen property, or anything that violates UBC's Student Code of Conduct.
Respect other members
Keep all communication respectful. Harassment, discrimination, unsolicited messages, and spam are not tolerated. Use the report feature or email support@ubcycle.ca if you experience issues.
Fair pricing
Price items reasonably. Price gouging or scalping — particularly for high-demand items like textbooks — goes against the spirit of UBCycle.
No commercial sellers
UBCycle is for individual students, not businesses. Listings that appear to be commercial operations may be removed.
Free & Donate section
Items listed as free must genuinely be free. Do not use the free section to drive traffic to paid listings.
Violations may result in listing removal or account suspension. To report a listing or user, email support@ubcycle.ca.
