About UBCycle
Built for the UBC community.
What is UBCycle?
UBCycle is a community platform built for everyone at the University of British Columbia. It brings together people across every faculty, residence, and year — creating a space to trade goods, find housing, offer skills, give things away, and genuinely connect with the people around you. Every account is verified with a UBC email, so every interaction stays within a trusted community.
Why we built this
UBC is one of the most vibrant campuses in the world, yet so much of what happens here stays invisible — the person two floors up selling exactly what you need, the sublet that never gets posted anywhere, the skill someone would happily offer if only there were a place to share it. We built UBCycle to change that. To make the UBC community feel smaller, warmer, and more connected. To keep things in circulation instead of in landfill. To make life on campus a little easier and a lot more human.
What you can do on UBCycle
- →Buy & sell. Trade secondhand textbooks, furniture, electronics, clothes, and more — at fair prices, within the community.
- →Donate & receive. Give things away for free, or find what you need without spending a cent. Good karma all around.
- →Find or list sublets. Moving out? Need a place for the summer? Connect directly with people in the UBC area.
- →Offer or find services. Tutoring, photography, moving help, coding, design — share what you are good at.
- →Connect with people. Message anyone directly. Build relationships that go beyond a single transaction.
Our values
- →Trust. Every account is tied to a real UBC email. No anonymous strangers — just your community.
- →Sustainability. Every item rehomed is one less thing in a landfill. We think that matters.
- →Accessibility. UBCycle is free to use. We want it to be useful for everyone, regardless of budget.
- →Community. We measure success not just in transactions, but in connections made and lives made easier.
